Product overview

What Are Ferrite (Ceramic) Magnets?

Ferrite magnets are permanent magnets made mainly from iron oxide combined with barium or strontium carbonate. They are one of the most widely used magnetic materials worldwide due to low cost, excellent corrosion resistance, and stable performance across a wide temperature range.

Practical comparison

Ferrite vs. Rare Earth Magnets

Compared with NdFeB and SmCo, ferrite magnets have lower energy product but deliver outstanding price-to-performance in many high-volume designs. For motors, speakers and holding systems where space is not extremely limited, ferrite remains the most economical choice.

  • Lower cost for mass production
  • Higher electrical resistivity → reduced eddy current losses
  • Better corrosion resistance without plating
Material options

Anisotropic & Isotropic Ferrite Magnets

We supply both anisotropic ferrite magnets (higher performance with preferred magnetic direction) and isotropic ferrite magnets (magnetizable in any direction) according to your product design, tooling strategy, and target cost.

  • Custom magnetization: axial, radial, diametral, multi-pole
  • Shapes: disc, block, ring, arc segments and custom geometry
  • Support for drawings, samples, and 3D models
Specifications & grades

Ferrite Magnet Grades, Shapes and Typical Magnetic Properties

We manufacture ceramic ferrite magnets in a broad range of grades and geometries. The following table shows typical hard ferrite reference values. We confirm the grade, magnetization and tolerances based on your drawing and real working conditions.

Shapes we supply

Common Ferrite Magnet Shapes

  • Disc: speakers, sensors, holding tools
  • Block: fixtures, magnetic chucks, appliances
  • Ring: speakers, motors, rotating devices
  • Arc / segment: DC motors and generators
  • Custom: made per drawing or 3D model

Tip: For motor arcs, share air-gap, rotor/stator dimensions and pole structure—this helps us propose the optimal arc size & magnetization.

Grade Br (mT) HcB (kA/m) HcJ (kA/m) (BH)max (kJ/m³) Max. Working Temp.
C5 / Y25 380–400 190–210 200–220 26–29 ≤ 250°C
C8 / Y30 400–420 200–220 210–230 30–34 ≤ 250°C

Reference values only. We’ll confirm grade selection, tolerance and magnetization direction after reviewing your drawing and application.

Manufacturing

Ferrite Magnet Manufacturing Process for Stable Batch Consistency

Process stability is the real KPI for OEM supply. Our ferrite magnet production follows a controlled route from powder preparation to final inspection, helping you minimize variance, control scrap rate, and keep assembly yield stable.

  • 1

    Raw Material Preparation

High-purity iron oxide and barium/strontium carbonate are weighed and mixed according to target grade formula.

  • 2

    Pre-sintering & Milling

Calcination creates clinker; controlled milling optimizes particle size distribution to improve magnetic performance and stability.

  • 3

    Pressing (Field Orientation for Anisotropic)

Wet/dry pressing forms green compacts; anisotropic ferrite uses a magnetic field during pressing to align domains.

  • 4

    Sintering & Controlled Cooling

High-temperature sintering forms dense ceramic magnets; controlled cooling supports microstructure stability and repeatability.

  • 5

    Machining / Grinding

Grinding and machining achieve final dimensions—critical for motor arcs, rings and tight assembly stacks.

  • 6

    Magnetizing & Final Inspection

Magnetization per direction/spec; dimensional + magnetic inspection before packing and shipment.

FAQ

Ferrite Magnets – Frequently Asked Questions

Click to expand. For specific designs (motors/speakers), share your drawing and we’ll advise grade and magnetization scheme.

Are ferrite magnets strong enough for my application?
Ferrite magnets have lower energy than NdFeB, but they are often strong enough for motors, speakers and holding systems—while being far more cost-effective. Suitability depends on required force/flux, space and operating temperature. We can help evaluate the best material option.
What temperature can ferrite magnets withstand?
Standard hard ferrite magnets typically operate up to about 250°C in many applications, often higher than standard NdFeB. For thermal cycling or harsh environments, we’ll review conditions and recommend a suitable grade.
Do ferrite magnets need a surface coating?
Usually no. Ferrite magnets are naturally corrosion-resistant due to their ceramic structure. If you need specific appearance, bonding requirements or additional protection, epoxy coating or painting can be applied.
Can you customize ferrite magnets based on my drawing?
Yes. We can manufacture custom sizes and shapes based on drawings, 3D models or samples—including arc segments for motors and special blocks/rings. Please include tolerance requirements and annual volume for accurate costing.
What information do you need to quote ferrite magnets?
Typical quote inputs: grade (or application), shape/dimensions, magnetization direction, quantity (trial + annual), tolerance/surface requirement, and delivery location. If unsure, share application details and we’ll help define key parameters.
How do you ship ferrite magnets internationally?
Sea freight is economical for production; air/express works for urgent samples or small batches. We can optimize packaging, magnet shielding, and palletization for safe delivery.
